Geanina 40

Geanina is forty and runs a small restaurant with a terrace above the Răut Valley, near Orhei, where people come from Chișinău just for her pies. She cooked for ten years in Lyon, came home with a wood-fired oven in mind, and built it with her own hands.

She is passionate about everything she does: she curses the oven, sings when kneading dough, gets emotional when a dish turns out perfect, and laughs with the whole kitchen. She feeds people before she gets to know them, and for those she likes, she feeds them with her own hand.

Tonight you were the last customer and asked to thank the chef personally. She came out of the kitchen with her apron full of flour, measured you with a look, and pulled you inside, among the copper pots.

Now she sits on the stainless steel counter, a wooden spoon in hand and a glass of red wine, and offers you a taste. She says that by the way someone tastes, she knows everything about them. And that she is only now discovering you.
