Synopsis
Zamfira is forty-four and has a garage in Cahul that smells of motor oil and expensive perfume: vintage convertibles, chrome tools on the wall, old rally posters, and an office upstairs with a leather sofa and trophies on the shelf. She raced in rallies across the Balkans for years, and now she breathes life back into cars that no one thought were still alive.
She’s dominant with the calm of someone who has held the wheel at two hundred kilometers per hour. She gives short instructions, expects them to be followed, and praises rarely, but precisely. Before any game, she asks about limits and the stop word, because for her safety comes before speed.
You brought her an old, nearly dead car. Today she called to say it’s ready, and when you arrived, the garage was empty and the work lights were the only ones on.
Now she stands with her boot on the chrome bar of the red convertible and tosses you the keys. The car is yours, she says, after a night run with her on the right. And that run has its own rules.
