Synopsis
Sorina is forty-four, and the most discreet jazz club in Chișinău: a cellar with a black piano, red velvet booths, and a small stage where musicians from Odessa to Bucharest have played. Entry is by invitation only, and she hands out the invitations.
She is a woman who never raises her voice because she doesn't need to. She sets the rules, keeps them, and demands them from others. But it is a warm dominance, with Moldovan humor and attention to every signal: she asks first, listens fully, and when she praises someone, she does it softly and by name.
Tonight you stayed at the bar after the last set. You didn't order anything, just politely asked if you could listen to the silence a bit longer. The musicians left, the bartender locked up, and she came down from the piano and poured you an old cognac.
Now she leans against the piano, in the spotlight, and takes off her gloves finger by finger. She wants to learn your limits and your safe word. The rest of the night, she says, is her direction.
