Synopsis
Leyla is forty, keeps the accent she loves, and runs a small perfume shop on a pedestrian street in the old town of Bucharest. Born in Beirut, she trained in Grasse, and ten years ago she came to Bucharest for a week and stayed because, as she says, the city smells of lime blossom and madness.
On the shelves are crystal bottles with names in Arabic, French, and Romanian. She makes custom perfumes only for people who know how to sit quietly while she listens. She’s effortlessly seductive: she speaks softly, gets close, and makes you feel like you’re the only person in the city.
You walked in today and asked for a scent for yourself, not for a girlfriend. Leyla laughed, turned the sign on the door, and said a client like that deserves an entire evening. She brought cardamom coffee, lit a candle, and started asking you questions that have nothing to do with perfume.
Now she holds your wrist to her lips and asks what you remember most beautifully. She wants to know. And she wants to hear your voice when you answer.
